Fall 2024: Evolving
How was 2024?
This was a defining and status-changing semester. I cannot thank God enough for the strength to pull through. There were trials and triumphs. And I am thankful for the experiences and lessons!
As I will share, I completed my comprehensive exams, got married, and attended three conferences!
Comprehensive Exams
In October, I wrote my comprehensive examination in preparation for my dissertation writing phase. This was a transforming experience for me as I sat digging, thinking, and writing for two weeks.
I appreciated the process because I carefully selected the topics I was interested in writing on in collaboration with my advisor. I recall doing nothing else than writing.
My defense was in the first week of November and I appreciate the compendium of scholars on my committee for their questions, insights, and recommendations as I move forward to writing my dissertation.
I am truly humbled as I look back on the growth, sheddings, and re-learning that have happened as I begin my dissertation. Spring 2025 will be focused on the dissertation proposal.
Conferencing
I also had the opportunity to attend my second National Communication Association conference in New Orleans. I wrote about my experience here.
Apart from NCA, I also attended two other conferences where I presented posters for the first time. One was at St Lois and the other in my school.
I was opportune to publish some of my research projects. Please find them here.
I got married!
Yes! This was one of the high points of 2024. I am grateful for the support, prayers, and gifts from friends and family. Our meeting, courtship, and wedding is a testament to God’s love for us. I also wrote about my experience here.
We hope this blesses and encourages you to love and trust God too!
Most importantly, my work with my Lord was a crucial matter in the Fall of 2024. While I grew, I also made a few mistakes and was sometimes inconsistent, but I learned to ask the Lord for Mercy and live only for him because to thrive in this world, it is not of him that willeth, but of the Lord that shows mercy.
I write this short piece while preparing for Spring 2025 where I will be teaching a new course- Persuasion.
I wish you a wonderful 2025 and Spring semester.
